musicians 4 musicans

JBrown, born as Johnnie Matthew Brown, was raised in Lambert, Mississippi. Being the fifth of eight children and a preacher’s kid, he spent a lot of time at church singing and going to revivals with his father. He was part of the male quartet in addition to singing in the church choir. His Pentecostal roots are evident in his voice when he performs. His musical influences include: James Cleveland, The Gospel Key Notes, Teddy Pendergrass, Al Green, Barry White, Lou Rawls and Miles Jaye.

JBrown was a member of the Black Nativity choir and sang with numerous artists in the Twin Cities. After singing with several groups around the Twin Cities including Soultight Committee, Musicians 4 Musicians, and The Artist’s Loft, JBrown decided to do a tribute for one of his favorite artists: Teddy Pendergrass.  Currently, the tribute is in its third year and each time it has been a sold out show.
